Information and Communication Technology

Information technology is defined as use of hardware, software, services, and supporting infrastructure to manage and deliver information using voice, data, and video. Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is an increasingly powerful tool for participating in global remarks:

  •  promoting political accountability
  • improving the delivery of basic services
  • enchanting local development opportunities.

But without modern ICT rules, many people in developing countries- especially the poor- will be left behind. UNDP help countries draw on capability and best practices from around the world to develop tactic that expand access to ICT and bind it for development.

On the other hand, Information Technology (IT), as defined by the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) is ” the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information system, particularly software applications and computer hardware. “ IT deals with the use of electroni computers and compter software to convert, store, safeguard, process, transmit, and securely recover information. Benedict Boulay and his companions divide Information Technology into two types. 

 

  1.  ” Tools “, IT to support doctors and dentists in the everyday conduct of their jobs. For example an Mr. scanner, a patient record system, or a decision support system. 
  2. Training System“, IT designed explicitly for training. For example, a CD-ROM containing dermatology images and related text or computer-based teaching system for a surgical technique
